Local and global partnerships

The KalaCORE consortium has been formed from four organisations: Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi); Mott MacDonald; the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). The team includes leading visceral leishmaniasis experts with distinct and complementary skills informing programmes to be implemented by local partners, government and NGOs.

To support their efforts in the control and elimination of visceral leishmaniasis, we've created a site to host and share their objectives and outputs - as well as provide a hub for any useful materials related to VL.

From the field

Kalacore are amassing a wealth of experience through their in-country partners. What methods of communication have supported advocacy efforts? What are the challenges in reaching specific remote areas? Kalacore are capturing practical knowledge in the form of blogs for those planning similar programmes in future.

Measuring outputs

To meet their aims of control and elimination of VL, Kalacore track activities based on four themes:training health workers, surveillance, case management and health education. Each theme has a page which displays the activities in an accessible, layered format, detailing objectives and outputs of each activity.
