Trachoma atlas - mapping the world's leading cause of preventable blindness
As part of the growing family of open-access atlases covering neglected diseases the trachoma atlas consolidates published and unpublished data and provides up-to-date country maps of trachoma distribution.
ECLOF International - microfinance for the vulnerable and marginalised
We had the pleasure of developing a new brand and website for ECLOF International - a non-profit microfinance organisation - that aims to relieve poverty and restore human dignity. The majority of their clients work in rural areas with services being supplied by their loan officers in 21 national offices throughout Africa, the Americas and Asia. Next steps include creating a flexible, template microsite for each office and an intranet.
back2normal – back and neck clinic
We developed a website for Colin Natali’s leading physiotherapy clinic. Our aim was to show case their unique blend of physiotherapy with spinal strengthening technology to treat back and neck pain.
MenAfriCar Consortium: Virtual working space
We developed a virtual space to encourage collaboration through resource and document sharing, and forum discussions.
Global Atlas of Helminth Infections
Working closely with Simon Brooker and his team, we have created a unique, open-access, free information web resource vital for planning and implementing deworming programmes. Our challenge was to present and structure the web site so that it is easy for users to view the maps on screen and / or download them, and to create a platform that can evolve as more countries and diseases are added to the atlas's portfolio.
Malaria Centre
The Malaria Centre at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine draws together the diverse research and teaching activities carried out at the School. The ultimate aim of this work is to provide best evidence for policy and practice in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of malaria around the world. The Centre brings members together through regular seminars and events and provides support to research projects in malaria endemic countries.
Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV)
MMV, a not-for-profit public-private partnership, set up to save lives through the discovery, development and delivery of effective and affordable new antimalarials. The venture is currently managing the largest portfolio of antimalarial R&D projects ever assembled. We worked closely with MMV to understand their business drivers and target audience requirements, going on to develop their new web site with novel IA, a clean, attractive and easily navigable interface, and content more closely targeted at achievements and challenges.
The African Meningococcal Carriage Consortium (MenAfriCar)
MenAfriCar is a new international research effort to study how meningococcal meningitis is spread in Africa, and to document the impact of a new meningitis vaccine on reducing transmission. Take a look around the web site we have developed to promote and detail their planned research activities throughout the African meningitis belt.
The Africa London Nagasaki (ALN) Scholarship Fund
ALN is a new scholarship set up to support African scientists undertake a Master’s degree in a subject relevant to the control of infectious disease in Africa. We were commissioned to create a web site to facilitate the electronic application process and to make the application procedure as simple as possible, especially for applicants in African countries with unreliable internet connectivity.
Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR)
TDR, a special programme based at the World Health Organization required a new corporate web site to reflect the organisation's new 10-year strategy. Usability, content structure and how the site is maintained by TDR was key to this redesign.
Malaria Capacity Development Consortium (MCDC) PhD application system
Our challenge was to create a web-based application system for PhD applicants based throughout Africa. Applicants had to be able to complete and submit their electronic applications from countries where internet connections can be unreliable / unstable.
Malaria Capacity Development Consortium (MCDC) Community web site
The Consortium sought to create an online network to encourage information exchange between all the different groups and individuals associated with the programme, including the recently recruited PhD students and their supervisors, mentors and educational advisor. So Manta Ray Media built one.
