Training MCDC PhD students

Fresh from the excitement of travelling on the flight from South Africa to Malawi with the Burkina Faso football team, Dave and I are in Malawi to train the 20 newly recruited PhD students how to use and make the most of the MCDC Community during their RMC course.

The MCDC Community has been developed by us to facilitate the communication, the sharing of resources, and information exchange between all the members of the Consortium. The site will also drive the Personal Development Planning (PDP) programme for the PhD students and senior researchers.

Looking ahead, a big challenge we foresee to the success of the Community will be to get everyone involved with the programme to use the network as their method of communication for all matters relating to the Consortium. The training of users is staggered so it will be interesting to see how the students get on over the coming months before the 25 or so senior researchers are trained in early November.
