Two web sites launched for Malaria Day 2010
With less than a year to meet the 2010 target of universal mosquito net coverage for all populations at risk and with the goal of reducing the number of malaria cases and deaths by 50% by 2015, it's an extremely busy time for everyone involved in the fight against malaria.
It's been a busy time for us too (on a much smaller scale of course), but nonetheless we're proud to showcase the product of our hard work over the last 4 months - the launch of two malaria web sites; the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) and Malaria Centre at LSHTM in time for World Malaria Day on 25 April.
Please take a look around both sites to see the invaluable work they're doing to Count Malaria Out.
MMV, a not-for-profit public-private partnership, set up to save lives through the discovery, development and delivery of effective and affordable new antimalarials. The venture is currently managing the largest portfolio of antimalarial R&D projects ever assembled; almost 60 antimalarial projects in partnership with over 130 pharmaceutical, academic, and endemic-country partners in 44 countries.
The Malaria Centre at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine draws together the diverse research and teaching activities carried out at the School. The ultimate aim of this work is to provide best evidence for policy and practice in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of malaria around the world. The Centre brings members together through regular seminars and events and provides support to research projects in malaria endemic countries.
